Trouble Shooting

I think my monitor may have problem to do with:
1 No power?
2 No display?
3 Picture is flickering?
4 Screen geometry distortion?
5 The picture is patchy?
6 The screen is out of focus?
7 The computer does not recognise my monitor?

1 No power?
Please ensure the power cord is fastened to the monitor securely, and the power button is switched on. OSD control is activated via the '+' button on the front bezel of the monitor.
Check to see what colour the LED (Light Emitting Diode) is, on the front bezel of your monitor. If the colour is Green: it is not a power supply problem. Please press the '+' button to activate OSD (On Screen Display), go to 'Picture'-> to adjust 'Contrast' or 'Brightness' control.

If the LED colour is Amber: Please contact GNR for callout.

2 No display?
If the power LED appears Green and there is still no picture, please press the '+' button on monitor to bring up the OSD.
Select 'Picture' -> 'Contrast' and 'Brightness' to adjust the monitor suitable for your use by pressing the '+' or '-' button.

3 Picture is flickering
Refresh rate issue; first of all, please activate OSD control, go to ‘Other’ -> ‘Info’ to check the current monitor display information.

GNR recommends 85 hertz as standard for a flicker free refresh rate. This can be done via Windows: 'Control Panel' -> ‘Display’-> ‘Settings’ -> ‘Advanced’ -> check for 85hz refresh rate or nearest. You may check the monitor refresh rate via the ‘Other’->’Info’ on the OSD.

Please ensure you have set up the refresh rate correctly. If the flicker is caused by low refresh rate that is substantially different from the Windows setting, please contact GNR website www.gnrintl.com for a callout.

Notebook Users:
The default refresh rate for notebooks is usually set at 60 Hz thus you may experience a flickering effect when first connecting a notebook to the monitor. This problem can be resolved upon switching the display from the Notebook to a Monitor, and change the display setting to CRT monitor from your Control Panel -> ‘Display’-> ‘Settings’ -> ‘Advanced’ -> check for 85hz refresh rate or nearest.

4 Screen geometry distortion?
All monitors are affected by the magnetic field that can distort the geometry of the display; although every effort has been set up during the manufacturing process to ensure the products are localised according to the magnetic polar fields of the local distribution geography.

The user can use the ‘Geometry’ setting on the OSD to modify this. Please activate OSD control, then select ‘Picture’ -> ‘Recall’ to jump to its original setting before proceeding to make any new adjustments.

5 Patchiness and loss of colour accuracy?
If you feel the screen appear to be patchy (a blue area on a purple screen) or unbalanced, this may be resolved using the ‘Degauss’ (De-magnetize) function or the ‘Colour Management’ panel from the OSD.

Due to a variance in magnetic fields and objects (such as speakers) that could affect the monitor, the ‘Degauss’ function would work best if you rotate the monitor 40-50 degrees toward the other direction and select the ‘Degauss’ function to reset the monitor. When you are happy with the display state, you can simply rotate the monitor back to its usual position for normal use.

6 The Screen is out of focus?
Go to ‘Geometry’ -> ‘V-focus’, convergence adjustments on the OSD.

Extension cables or video splitter boxes can impair image quality - either remove them or ensure you are using a good quality product with a suitably high bandwidth.

7 The computer does not recognise my monitor?
While all our monitors are designed to be ‘Plug and Play’. We also provide drivers that can be installed from the ‘User’s Manual & Driver’ CD-Rom that comes with each monitor. You may also download the appropriate driver from our website.

If you are replacing a previous monitor while using the same Computer Operating System, we recommend you delete the old monitor device(s) from the Device Manager (Windows users: Control Panel -> Systems -> Device Manager) and install our driver from afresh. This can be achieved either from the ‘User’s Manual & Driver’ CD or to download appropriate driver from our website.

Alternatively you use the ‘Scan for hardware changes’ wizard on Windows XP™, or ‘Scan for new device’ wizard on Window 2000™ and Windows 98™. (Control panel -> Systems -> Device Manager), the new monitor device should be installed.
