Computer Systems today introduced the highly upgradeable
DeskNote i-Buddie A980 mobile desktop PC.
The i-Buddie A980 represents the first second-generation
offering in the groundbreaking ECS DeskNote line.
All DeskNote models deliver desktop PC muscle
and laptop mobility in an affordable package by
moving the heat generating, space consuming PC
power supply outside its case to make room for
more powerful, but less costly desktop components.

PC Age ready to enter the computer market for

The first ever do it yourself portable desktop
PC, the ECS i-Buddie A980 delivers basic computing
power in a well though out, affordable and highly
upgradeable package. Better yet, the i-Buddie
A980 is ready for do it yourself personalization
- either right out of the box or when a tight
budget allows for expansion. It's easy to assemble,
easy to upgrade, yet delivers powerful DeskNote
performance.
i-Buddie A980 accommodates Intel Celeron or Pentium
4 chips with a choice of Willamette or Northwood
cores with L2 caches up to 512KB. Users select
factory installed RAM ranging from 128 to 512MB.
Users may expand ram to up to 1GB. It supports
15-inch TFT XGA/ 14.1-inch TFT XGA Notebook LCD
and 15-inch TFT XGA LCD monitors. It includes
an 8X DVD-ROM drive, the user's choice of 2.5",
9.5mm haeight ATA33/66/100 hard drive, and on-board
modem and great audio including the ability to
output 6-channel sound to a user's speakers.
i-Buddie A980 comes with nearly every imaginable
I/O slot including and Ethernet, SIR and four
USB 2.0 ports.
A short list of optional factory or user upgradeable
features includes a 24X Combo DVD-ROM + CD-RW
drive, nVidia GeForce4 420GO graphic card with
on board memory up to 32MB and external battery.
i-Buddie A980 is Microsoft Windows XP, Windows
2000 Professional, Windows Me and Windows 98SE
