Sarah
Thatcher (MA Oxon, MPhil Cantab) is a PhD candidate attached to
the Computer Security Research Centre in the Information Systems
Department at the LSE. Her research analyses cultural reactions
to cyberterrorism, particularly at the level of government policy
and legislation. Sarah’s research is motivated by the apparent
confusion between the issues of computer hacking and terrorism and
how this impacts on decisions taken at the national level. She is
a also a Teaching Assistant in the IS Department at the LSE.
Sarah is a solicitor,
qualified in England and Wales, and was admitted in 1998. She has
practiced commercial litigation at two of the top six law firms
in the City of London and has experience in both High Court and
international arbitration proceedings. She specialises in information
technology and international trade, but also has experience in commercial
banking disputes, shipbuilding disputes, professional negligence,
intellectual property and software piracy. Sarah also holds an MPhil
in Criminological Research from Cambridge University and an MA in
Jurisprudence from Oxford University.
